The president spoke at the August 30 Victory Day reception in Beştepe
President and AKP leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at the reception given at the Presidential Complex on 30 August Victory Day. “We will definitely reach our 2023 goals, albeit with a few years’ delay. “If the lives of millions of people beyond our borders are in danger, it is not possible for us to live here in peace,” he said.
Here are the highlights from Erdogan’s remarks:
Like every victory, there is the courage of our heroes who sacrificed their lives without blinking their eyes behind August 30th.
Our ancestors who removed the dagger that was meant to be stuck in the bosom of Anatolia opened a whole new horizon.
We will surely reach our 2023 goals, albeit with a few years’ delay.
We certainly will not lose our lambs to wolves, both east of the Tigris and east of the Euphrates.
“We have no designs on anyone’s land”
The symbol of the struggle for the ideal of a strong Turkey in democracy and economy is our aim, we have no eyes on anyone’s land but we cannot tolerate the smallest of hands reaching out to us.
If the lives of millions of people beyond our borders are in danger, it is impossible for us to live here in peace.
It is a requirement of our faith, our culture to be there wherever an underdog is persecuted in the world.
Where everyone goes to exploit it, to make it self-dependent, we work to implement permanent projects that touch people’s lives.
“Our nation has pursued great dreams throughout history”
It is inevitable that societies that do not have dreams and cannot turn into targets will become the material of other dreams. Our nation has pursued great dreams throughout history.
We have run from success to success as long as we maintain our unity, our unity, our brotherhood.
Those who work for their own small accounts instead of their country and nation have never been lacking our nation has taught them their lesson when the time comes.
Someone is trying to cast a shadow over our successes with the mouth of the terrorists and the forces behind them.
Turkey is trying to be surrounded militarily, politically and economically. Someone is carrying water to our adversaries’ mill.
Neither mandataries nor marauders have won, the winner has been the struggle for independence of our nation.
